Privacy Policy

LocalWhisper · Last updated: 10 March 2026

Overview

LocalWhisper is a dictation keyboard for iOS. It is designed with privacy as a core principle — your voice data stays on your device or on servers you control.

Data Collection

LocalWhisper does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. There is no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind.

Audio and Transcription

In all cases, you choose where your data goes. LocalWhisper never sends data to any service without your explicit configuration.

Keyboard Extension

LocalWhisper includes a keyboard extension that requests Full Access to enable dictation functionality. Full Access is required solely to communicate with the main app via shared storage (App Group). The keyboard extension does not access the network independently and does not log or transmit keystrokes.

In-App Purchases

LocalWhisper offers a one-time in-app purchase (Pro) processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. LocalWhisper does not collect or store any payment information.

API Keys

If you provide API keys for third-party services (e.g. Groq, OpenAI), these are stored locally on your device in the iOS Keychain. They are never transmitted to LocalWhisper or any third party — they are sent only to the service endpoints you configure.

Third-Party Services

LocalWhisper does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Children's Privacy

LocalWhisper does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13.
